At the tender age of 15, he tragically lost his father, leaving him under the care of his mother. His mother inherited a garden and a flour mill, which became their means of sustenance.

Seeking Knowledge

Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti had an insatiable thirst for knowledge. He sold all his belongings and embarked on a journey to acquire knowledge. His first destinations were Bukhara and Samarkand, where he dedicated himself to the memorization of the Holy Quran. Subsequently, he pursued further studies in the field of religious sciences in Alam Jahiri. After completing his studies, he became a disciple of Khwaja Usman Harooni, a revered spiritual figure who resided near Nishapur.

Guidance and Travels

Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti spent a considerable amount of time in the company of his mentor, Khwaja Usman Harooni, for about 20 or 25 years, as mentioned in different historical accounts. During this period, he accompanied his spiritual guide on various journeys, including significant ones to Shiva Stava and Baghdad. He also undertook solo trips to important Islamic cities such as Makkah, Madinah, and Jerusalem. These journeys helped him gain knowledge and deepen his spiritual connection with Allah.

Settlement in Ajmer

After his extensive travels, Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti finally settled in Ajmer, where he established his Khanqah and Dargah. At that time, Prithviraj Chauhan was the ruler of Ajmer. Despite facing opposition from certain groups, his influence prevailed. Even the yogis of that era acknowledged his spiritual prowess and divine connection. Jai Pal Jogia, a renowned yogi of that time, confessed that Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti was not merely a magician but a true representative of Allah's power. Jai Pal Jogia embraced Islam and took the name Abdulah.

Spreading Islam

Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti played a crucial role in the spread of Islam in Hindustan. His teachings and spiritual presence attracted a large number of followers, who embraced Islam. He wrote letters to different rulers, seeking their support in spreading the message of Islam.
